Barbara Ann Corcoran

Barbara Ann Corcoran (born March 10 1949) is an American businesswoman investor speaking, consultant and syndicated columnist. She is also an TV personality, author and author. The Corcoran Group was a New York City real estate brokerage that she founded. NRT purchased it for $66 million in 2001. Corcoran later left the company. Corcoran is one of ABC’s initial Shark Tank investors. To date she has appeared on every seasons of Shark Tank. As of February 2020, she's signed 53 deals on the show, with the most significant one being $350,000 for 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran was born in Edgewater, New Jersey, the second of 10 children in a working class Irish-Catholic family.  Her mother, Florence, was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. became her father throughout Corcoran’s childhood. In times, her family relied on deliveries of free food from a local grocery store. Corcoran states that her father was a drunken man who was rude to her mother and condescension. Corcoran struggled throughout her schooling and later discovered that she had dyslexia. Corcoran attended an area Catholic elementary school and started high school at St. Cecilia High School in Englewood. Corcoran graduated from Leonia High School with a degree in English after failing several courses during her first year.
